It is no secret that Maine is known for its stunning coastal views, charming lighthouses, and delicious seafood. So it is no wonder that so many couples choose to elope to this beautiful state I am lucky to call home. As a wedding photographer who is passionate about all that Maine has to offer, I am frequently asked how a wedding these days can stand out from the crowd. There are many ways I can answer this, but can you truly think of a more unique way to tie the knot than on a Just Banded lobster boat? Yes, you read that right.
Jess and Mike designed their Just Banded Lobster Boat Maine elopement to be a one-of-a-kind experience that I know they will cherish for a lifetime. Bliss was in no shortage as they were surrounded by nothing other than their chosen witnesses, basking in enough love to fill the ocean around them. It was the perfect way to celebrate their love in a fun and unique way. This day was symbolic in countless ways, which happens a lot with the natural beauty of Maine weddings- and I’m so lucky to get to see it firsthand.
I am privileged enough to get to plan some of the most intimate and adventurous weddings that one could only hope to see in a lifetime, and in saying that I just knew Jess and Mike’s elopement would be everything and more. Hidden under Jess’s ever so elegant lace-sleeved dress was a personalized set of Vans skate shoes as her footwear of choice, because every aspect of this wedding was customized to the heavens. Iconic footwear aside, Elderberry Floral designed the alluring boho-inspired bouquets and decorated the Just Banded lobster boat to be organically Maine with coordinated floral arrangements- this wouldn’t dare pass as any ordinary lobster boat. The gorgeous neutral earth tones perfectly complemented the wholesome intimacy of their day and the stunning beauty of the surrounding Maine coast.
A little inside information about this gorgeous couple: Jess and Mike’s Lobster Boat wedding was not only memorable as their photographer, but Jess also happens to be one of my dearest friends. The divine story of our friendship first began in 2019 after hearing that a wedding planner who designed adventurous weddings, and the ‘glamping’ celebrations of my literal ~DREAMS~ was moving to Maine. I just knew we absolutely needed to be friends. No ‘ifs, ands, or buts,’ it had to happen.
After stumbling across each other at a vendor event -it was meant to be- and excitedly sharing all of our creative dreams with each other as if we had been waiting with notes for one another. Like all modern love stories, we followed up our initial introduction with a DM conversation. This conversation between two freshly met strangers ended with @jesspancake_ asking (I scrolled back years to find this), “Can we please be friends and create cool things!? I have so many ideas.” And so we did. Dreams do come true folks.
Flash forward years later, we have started multiple business ventures, shared stories and tears, and laughed over many many beers. The foundation of any female friendship, right? Jess has taught me insurmountable things about looking on the bright side of a sometimes gloomy outlook, and I’ve equally advised her on which boots she should opt for during her first Maine winter. Vital lessons for each of us. Jess and I have worked together to build a friendship that goes far beyond being wedding peers with the cool new gal in town, and I am so thankful to call her one of my very best friends. To have been a part of Jess and Mike’s wedding day was an honor of a lifetime, and I will forever look back at their lobster boat wedding photos to catch a glimpse of how it feels to be in the presence of true love.
So if you’re thinking about eloping in Maine (firstly, what a phenomenal choice) I must urge you to consider the Just Banded Lobster Boat as a top-tier option for a wedding like no other—I promise you won’t regret it!
Words will never do this wedding justice. Needless to say, I feel so privileged that I got to document Jess and Mike’s exclusive day on the lobster boat. The pure passion that lived in their day cannot be overstated. May 16th, 2023 belongs to Jess and Mike, and the sheer magic of their marriage to one another.
If you are looking for a local Maine elopement photographer to authentically capture all the beauty that lies within your day, you need not look any further: I would be thrilled to be a small part of your perfect day. You deserve an elopement photography collection that thoughtfully documents the moments you will look back on time and time again.
Cheers to Jess and Mike and their beautiful, happy, adventurous love!
