Last fall, Bethany, Steve, and their close family traveled to Portland, Maine for their elopement day at The Press Hotel. I met Bethany as I lead her to the first look, and I knew we were going to get along great by how much she trusted me after knowing me for about two minutes. On the steps of City Hall, I quickly said “Hi, I’m Katelyn! Here’s your bride!” to Steve, and then watched as emotion welled up in both of them during such a sweet and meaningful first look moment. After the two had a few moments to be present in the moment, it was time for adventure!
I love Portland Elopements. Mostly because I get to be your tour guide & show you lesser known spots. One thing was a must along the way, and that was a big ice cream cone to share from Beals. Our next stop was Novare Res Bier Cafe, not for the beer, but instead for the amazing graffiti on the deck. Mainers showed their friendly side while we were there though, and invited the couple to throw a few celebrity shots during cornhole. When you have your wedding portraits in a public spot, count on a lot of congratulations and cheers from strangers, which isn’t a bad thing at all, and makes me feel like a paparazzi in the best way.
“She’s your lobster. C’mon you guys. It’s a known fact that lobsters fall in love and mate for life. You can actually see old lobster couples, walking around their tank, you know, holding claws.” – Phoebe Buffay.
