Mackworth Island in Falmouth is possibly my favorite place for Maine Elopements. I love taking couples to places that feel unique and adventurous, and an Island certainly checks those boxes. Mark and Danielle wanted adventure and spontaneity for their elopement, so we traveled to Mackworth Island. Next, we met up with Cottontail Couples (their wedding officiant) and headed to the island’s trails to find the best golden light.
A ceremony of beautiful and meaningful words took place, and then in the glow of the sunset and being just married. Danielle & Mark explored and laughed and played, completely taking in their moment of celebration. Eventually, we parted ways at sunset on the beach, and as I drove across the bridge away from Mackworth, I could see them snuggling on a log, taking in their first views as married folk. This just filled me with so much happiness. What a perfect ending to this Mackworth Island Maine Elopement!
Above all, elopements have my heart. I can’t wait for all of the special little weddings I get to photograph in 2021. Although this year will continue to bring about changes that we can’t foresee, I am always amazed by how these couples adjust and find new ways to tie the knot.
