This may be the most perfectly planned Maine engagement session. It combined We started in the city on Portland’s West End, at the iconic Stratton Place. A block of apartments with mustache-shaped window adornments creates such an architecturally beautiful backdrop for photos. Brooke and Jake chose this location to meet at, and I think I made this motion when I read that email. When thinking of Portland, the Old Port- Wharf Street, to be more precise, is what most envision. Portland’s charm isn’t just on the cobblestones though, and I’m glad this session took place in a new location!
Brooke and Jake reside in Massachusetts, but Jake grew up in Maine and knew he wanted to have the engagement session here. They are also having their wedding in Maine, on the beautiful Diamond Island! Talk about a dream day.
Can we talk about Brooke’s dress for a second?! How cute is it! Fun fact, it’s actually from one of those possibly sketchy online boutiques, and she was as surprised as me that it arrived as an actual wearable and super stylish dress. Together, Brooke and Jake were one of the most stylish couples I’ve photographed. Their classic outfits complimented the urban setting of Portland so well, and the whites also popped out from the forest of Mackworth, making their one outfit very versatile. Outfit choice is so important for engagement sessions, which is why during shoot planning, I provide my couples with a little guide on what to wear. That way everyone is prepared and your photos will be more cohesive and true to you.
