If you’re familiar with my work you know I just love a Caswell Farm wedding! Shalini and Kristopher’s Maine barn wedding was the perfect fit for the ever-so-versatile Caswell Farm and was truly a celebration that I felt was such an immense privilege to attend. This observance was a weekend-long celebration blessed with a fusion of Hindu and Swedish traditions, combining the beauty of both worlds and partners, which resulted in the most colorful and whimsical celebration of two people in love.
This summer Maine barn wedding had the surprise of a rainy wedding weekend in typical New England fashion. You already know what they say about rain on your ‘wedding dayyy’ – Sarah Mclachlan can sing it better than I- but rest assured Shalini and Kristofer embraced the enchanting New England weather as if it were just another guest attending their wedding, now providing a jaw-dropping ambiance to the surrounding lush forest. What was ensured for all who attended was an otherworldly experience of romance and divinity, where you forgot about the busy world outside the farm and simply bathed in the sheer love that surrounded this couple.
What struck me most about Sallini and Kristofer’s wedding was the integral role their family played in the marriage ceremony, which made the day even more special for the couple in committing to one another. From the exchange of rings at Friday’s rehearsal dinner- something that’s not commonly done in an Indian ceremony- through the weekend in its entirety, this wedding was incredibly unique to this couple, and that’s exactly what I specialize in capturing.
Shalini commenced their weekend in a stunningly vibrant flower crown and vintage-inspired white rehearsal dress- paired with Kristofer in a floral dress shirt that not only gave a stylish nod to the warm color themes previewed in their glamorous invitations, yet also a hint of the ceremonious color yet to come. There was beauty and coordination in every detail as each outfit worn by the bride and groom throughout the weekend acted as a gift to the eyes fortunate enough to see them.
Caswell Farms proved, yet again, to be the perfect host for an authentic Maine barn wedding. This family owned historic 1800’s venue is nestled in Gray, Maine, and is surrounded by 50 scenic acres of forest, organic produce and flower gardens. Boasting open floor plans with countless indoor, and outdoor spaces, you can design and customize your day according to what makes your love stand apart from the rest- even if New England rain makes a charming appearance. To make your day a harmonious experience Caswell even offers on-sight catering by Barn & Table, which offered Shalini and Kristofer’s guests a range of delectable vegan, gluten-free, and traditional Indian dishes.
Caswell Farm’s historical atmosphere is inimitable, and was only further complimented by the elegant work of Bad Rabbit Flowers. Shalini and Kristofer set out to host a Maine summer wedding true to their roots unlike any other at Caswell Farm, and they very much succeeded. The fusion of Indian and Swedish cultures on June 24th, 2023 was nothing other than extraordinary.
I cannot thank Shalini and Kristofer enough for allowing me to capture the happiness of this unforgettable weekend!
