the wildflower workshop

Wildflower is a workshop inspired by the desire to create freely and break the mold of traditional wedding photography.

Wildflowers are unique and independent. They grow on their own and are strong and free. This workshop is inspired by these plants that choose their own path, grow towards the light, and persevere in any environment.

There’s a calming feeling in heading out for a day of shooting without the pressures of a real wedding day. Joining fellow creatives to photograph a gorgeous wedding day without the stress of a real wedding is one of the best ways to create images that you’ll be proud of. Learn from watching others’ shooting techniques, and be inspired by your surroundings and peers, without having a reception to return to. Wildflower is loosely scheduled, meaning if you need more time with that invitation suite (don’t we always) then you’ve got it! If the group decides to take the couple into the forest instead of a planned area, that’s totally fine, too. This day is about YOU growing the way you want to, like a wildflower.

This year, Wildflower will incorporate a learning aspect into the styled shoot. Along with a guest speaker, an editing session at the end of the evening will take place with an edit swap and constructive criticism to help you grow. We spend so much time alone at our computers editing, and a fresh set of eyes can really transform your editing style.

An added bonus for attendees is a 30 minute mentoring/brainstorming session with Katelyn. We’ll meet over skype or coffee discuss anything that will help you grow your business in the direction of your dreams.

Space is limited to 20 attendees on a first come, first serve basis. The cost is $500. Sign up for the email list to be the first to know when tickets go on sale!

Katelyn Mallett

Photographer

Hey there! I'm Katelyn, wedding photographer based in Maine. I shoot 15-25 weddings a year all over New England. I work amazing couples to create images that are thoughtful, romantic, and fun. I attended the University of Maine where I studied psychology and fine arts, including photography and design. 2019 is my 6th year as a photographer. In my time away from weddings, I most enjoy music festivals with my fiancé, cuddling my snuggly golden doodle, and exploring whenever I can because this universe is incredible.

King's Hill Barn

Venue

Hi!! I’m Kate Millett, one of the owners of and lead event coordinators at the King’s Hill Inn & Barn! Our property features a historic home and 120 year old refinished barn all surrounded by our private twenty five acres of forest, gardens and fields. We host 25-30 wedding celebrations a year with couples from all across the globe! In conjunction with my work at the inn, I work and own Kate Michaud Photography and Amethyst Boudoir Studio with my wife! I have a BA in studio art with a focus in visual storytelling so it felt like the most natural transition in the world going into wedding photography. When I’m not working, you can always find me working on house reno projects, playing with our fur babies or crafting!

Anika Wilson

Bad Rabbit Flowers

Hi, I’m Anika! I am a self-taught designer with a background in farming and fine art, two passions which have come together seamlessly through flowers. The Bad Rabbit "micro" farm is a quarter acre of gorgeous, organically grown flowers here in the state of Maine. The aim is to use these primarily when applicable, however, we do also make use of wholesalers, other local farms and our foraging skills!
