Wedding Timeline

The fun has begun! It’s time to relax, dance, and celebrate. Your reception should be a BLAST. The last thing you want to be worrying about is your wedding timeline. Your coordinator and DJ should take care of making sure that everything starts on schedule so that you can enjoy your night. Here are some helpful tips that will help your reception run smoothly.

1: Guest Consideration for Wedding Timeline

Take your guests into consideration when planning your wedding timeline. If you have a lot of elderly guests that will not be staying until the very end, make sure you schedule the cake cutting at an earlier time so that they can be part of it.

2: Make it your Wedding Timeline your own

If you want to have a special dance with your grandparents, do it! Don’t feel that a bouquet toss is necessary? You don’t need to do one! Make your reception a reflection of who you are and don’t feel tied to tradition or based on the influence of others.

3: Talk to your vendors about special events in your Wedding Timeline

Receptions begin with a pretty structured wedding timeline, but often have enough wiggle room to move things around. If you have a change of heart and want to sing a song with your friends, have an unexpected toast, or sneak away for some alone time, let your vendors know.

4: Don’t start something without the photographer

It’s a given that I’ll be right there with you your entire wedding day. During your reception, there will be guests posing for photos, drinks being poured, and food being served. All of these are things I’ll want to photograph! If you’re choosing a special dance or a surprise during the reception, make sure to let me know ahead of time. I wouldn’t want to be photographing guests while something unexpected happens across the room.

5: Slow down + take it all in

During your reception, make sure to block out a little bit of time to see each other. You’ll be catching up with friends, meeting new family, and it all goes by so quickly. Remember to spend some time together, eat all of the hors-d’oeuvres, and take it all in.
